& the Chainlink Band

“The King of R&B”, “Fantastic Entertainer”, “Showman”, “Awesome Voice”, describes the very talented Neal Sharpe!  Touring as Neal Sharpe formerly of “The Drifters”.  Neal and his dynamic show band are pleasing audiences playing the greatest hits of “The Drifters”, along with other chart topping “Classic R&B and Classic Rock Hits”.

Neal was born in Chicago and began singing at the ripe ole’ age of six.  His lifelong dream was to be an entertainer.  After spending six years in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam, Neal joined the “The Brothers 7”.  The Brothers 7 opened for such acts as The Whispers, The Chi-Lites, Al Green, War, Little Anthony and the Imperials, and The Drifters.

After hearing the smooth baritone voice and witnessing his dynamic stage presence, “The Drifters” asked Neal to go on tour as one of the four lead singers.  Singing 2nd tenor, and being lead singer on several songs, Neal toured the world with The Drifters! The 1976-1977 touring group of the “The Drifters”, consisting of Neal Sharpe, Herb Scott, Freeman Lacy and Billy Washington (leader), toured worldwide (including Alaska, the Philippines and Manila).  Booked by Hollywood International Talent Agency and managed by Chuck Cabot, “The Drifters” were considered one of the best R&B touring groups in the world.

Neal, as a solo act, has released three singles and one album.  His releases are highly received all over the world and has had several “smash hits” in England, including Lady from Chicago.  Neal continues his national acclaim and has opened for such acts as Roger & Zapp, Shirley Murdock, The Texas Tornadoes, and Grammy winner Little Joe and Familia.  Neal toured America and Bosnia with Archie Bell and the Drells and has sang harmonies with Mark Farner, formerly of Grand Funk Railroad.
